Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an inspection system adapted to a magnetic recording medium of high frequency and high recording density, by using a magnetic resistance effect element of a ferromagnetic thin film as a reproducing head. CONSTITUTION:A signal reproduced by the reproducing head of a nonbias magnetic-field magnetic resistance effect element of recording and reproducing head 1 from magnetic disk 2, driven by motor 3, to be measured is amplified 5 and the output bipolar signal of it is integrated 8. By way of mean-value detecting memory part 9 that detects and stores the mean value of an envelope from integral network part 8, it is supplied to error-comparison-level setting circuit part 10 to set an error comparison level, and this error comparison level signal 105 and output signal 102 of regenerative amplifier 5 are compared mutually; and its output is made into pulses by comparing circuit part 11, the absence part of a pulse in the output pulse string is error-processed by detecting circuit 12, and control part 13 performs error position detection, statistics processing and control.
