Abstract
PURPOSE:To attain operation with a high line recording density and a high track density by specifying the track width of a head, the thickness of a magneto-resistance effect film, and the depth of the signal detecting part of said film. CONSTITUTION:In case the track width is 1-10mum, the thickness of the magneto-resistance effect film is made 50-250Angstrom , and corresponding to these, the depth of the signal detecting part of said film is made 8mum or below. This means that the influence of reverse magnetic field on a thin magneto-resistance effect film can be made small even for a narrow track width, hence the reproduction sensitivity can be upgraded. As a result, a signal can be reproduced efficiently, the recording density can be improved, and a magnetic disk device can be miniaturized and its capacity can be made larger.
