Abstract

PURPOSE: To utter a double consonant syllable in a natural state and easily convert to the corresponding sentence, by exactly segmentalizing the first part of a double consonant of one time length by a signal designating the kind of a character, and discriminating the double consonant syllable by utilizing the fact that its utterance period has no vowel part.
CONSTITUTION: A voice signal is converted to an electric signal through the microphone 1, it is sent to the monosyllable recognition part 3 after passing through the amplifier 2, and a code sequence corresponding to kana (Japanese syllabary) is sent to the next language processing part 6. On the other hand, a character kind designating signal which has been input from the keyboard 4, synchronizing with the monosyllable utterance is sent to the processing part 6 through the code converter 5 on the way, and at the same time a code showing the existence of a monosyllable is sent to the recognition part 3. And the recognition part 3 divides the syllable based on the existence of a vowel part, and in case when there is no vowel syllable corresponding to an input of the keyboard, it is regarded as a double consonant, and a code showing a double consonant is sent to the processing part 6. In this way, the processing part 6 is able to utter a double consonant syllable in a natural state and convert to a corresponding sentence easily, in accordance with the input signal.
