Abstract

PURPOSE: Titled composition with excellent wear resistance and friction characteristics, which comprises a steel fiber, a sponge iron particle, graphite, a phenol resin binder and an inorganic filler.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 20W50vol% of a steel fiber, (B) 3W30vol% of a sponge iron particle, (D) 20W40vol% of graphite, (E) 15W35vol% of a phenol resin binfer of MW of several hundredsWseveral thousands or a modified product therefrom, and (F) 1W15vol% of an inorganic filler of Mohs hardness ≤4.5 and 0.1W5vol% of one of Mohs hardness >4.5, are compounded.
EFFECT: Excellent in wear resistance, friction characteristics, impact resistance, breaking resistance, fade resistance rivet fixing strength, etc., and capable of prolonging the life of a brake lining.
