Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an undercoating for Japanese lacquer by which there can be prvided coating finish having excellent apparance and the excellent adhesion of Japanese lacquer film, by a method wherein clacium carbonate or talc is incorporated into a resin compsn. consisting of polybutadiene and chlorinated polypropylene.
CONSTITUTION: There is provided an undercoating consisting of 85W95wt% of a resin compsn. composed of polybutadiene and chlorinated polypropylene in a weight ratio of the polybutadiene to the chlorinated polypropylene of 1:9W3:7 and 5W 15wt% calcium carbonate and/or talc having an average particle diameter of not more than 10μ. Examples of the polybutadienes used are homopolymers having an average MW of 1,000W4,000, or may be polymers having functional gp. such as hydroxyl gp. or carboxyl gp. at its terminal. It is preferred to use the chlorinated polypropylene having a chlorine content of 25W35wt%. Woodflour and/or an inorg. filler to be mixed with the polypropylene is used pref. in such as amount as to give 20W70wt% based on the total weight after mixing.
