Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate the rolling of a plate efficiently, by treating the first part of the rolled plate by an acid solution, and rendering that part of the plate flexible. CONSTITUTION:Before a plate for an alkaline storage battery is rolled into a coil, the first part of the rolled plate is immersed in an acid solution in order to elute either a part or the all of the active material of that part. Here, if necessary, the sintered base plate of the first part of the rolled plate may also be dissolved in the acid solution, the plate of that part being rendered flexible. Through the means mentioned above, the first part of the rolled plate with a small amount of the active material becomes flexible, the short circuits of the battery are obviated, and the plate can be rolled quite easily.
