Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the production of irregular length products by comparing a forecast length and an expected length, and giving tension to the blank material between stands in order to make the insufficient length of the forecast length zero when the forecast length is short of the expected length. CONSTITUTION:A blank material weight W is measured in a blank material weighing process 2, and based on this, a forecast length calculating process 6 calculates a forecast length L1. A comparing arithmetic process 7 outputs the operated difference C (L1-L2) of an expected length L2 and L1, and a tension calculation controlling process 8 gives instruction to decrease the number of revolutions of the upper steam side stand of a rolling process 4 to the number of revolutions corresponding to C. The sectional width of the blank material is measured in a sectional size measuring process 9, and the blank material length is measured in the next length measuring process 10. If this actually measured value differs from the expected length L2, this difference is arithmetically processed and is fed back to the forecast length calculating process 6 via a loss amount correcting process 13, whereby the forecast length L1 is corrected.
