Abstract

PURPOSE: To lessen errors due to an influence of an interference component and its evaporation by using standard gas in addition to measurement gas and then by comparing and contrasting the both with each other under the same condition.
CONSTITUTION: The measuring instrument is equipped with two impingers 1a and 1b with exactly the same function; measurement electrode 3 is arranged in one impinger 1a, and standard electrode 2 in the other 1b. Corresponding to impingers 1a and 1b, measurement gas flow meters 5 and 5', level detectors 12 and 12', mist traps 13 and 13', gas flow control valve 14 and gas pump 15 are provided. Impinger 1a is supplied with measurement gas to measure its conductivity through measurement electrode 3 and impinger 1b is supplied with standard gas whose substance to be measured has been removed by removal unit 16 to detect its conductivity through standard electrode 2, so that the SO2 concentration will be measured from their difference or ratio.
