Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease the waiting period until readout/write-in are made, by providing registers storing respectively the position of magnetic head for write-in/readout and the prsent position of the magnetic head, comparing the difference of both output signals with a set valve at a comparison circuit and making the magnetic head to move in accordance with the output signal.
CONSTITUTION: The position of magnetic head for write-in/readout is stored in a register 3, and the present position of the magnetic head is stored in a register 4. The difference of output signals a and b from the both registers 3, 4 is compared at a given set value at a comparison circuit 5, and when the output difference between the registers 3 and 4 is less than a set value, an FF8 is set via an AND gate circuit 6, and the magnetic head is contacted with the recording medium. By determining the set value so that readout/write-in can immediately be made when the magnetic head is in contact with the recording medium, taking into consideration the time T1 required for the movement of the magnetic head to the data and the time T2 required for the contact between the magnetic head and the recording medium, the waiting time can be reduced.
