Abstract

PURPOSE: To utilize a boring hole to obtain the initial state of the ground around the boring hole without gathering of rock, by inserting the sonde equipped with plural AE receivers into the boring hole digged in the ground.
CONSTITUTION: When boring is performed in rock 1, stress of the rock is released on hole wall 3 of boring hole 2, and stress components vertical to the hole wall become O. Under this state, sonde 4 is inserted into boring hole 2. Sonde 4 consists of rubber tube 5 mainly and is provided with plural AE receivers 6a, 6b are 6c different in direction and pressure sensor 7. If AE receivers 6a, 6b and 6c to measure only AEs from (a), (b) and (c) directions are provided in this manner, a graph showing the relation between the AE generation frequency and stress for every direction can be produced, and initial stress in respective directions can be obtained from the inflection point.
