Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a good quality picture image having low distortion of picture image and high resolution, by widening the width of stripe electrodes alternatively connected electrically while locating in parallel on one plane. CONSTITUTION:Through holes 61a, 61b,... are made in an electron beam shaping means 61 while deflecting electrodes 62A, 62B,... are provided on a vertical deflecting means 62 where the width of each deflection electrode chip is 2.8 times wider than conventional one. The electron beam passed through the through-hole 61a will pass between vertical deflection electrodes 62A, 62B in arrow directiol while furthermore will pass between horizontal electrodes 63A, 63B and deflected. In similar manner other electron beams are deflected sequentially. When widening the deflection electrode in such a manner, the deformation of the deflection electrode such as bending will scarcely occur thereby remarkable shifting of pitch in the proximity of the center or the circumference of the deflecting means is eliminated completely resulting in a good quality picture image having low distortion and high resolution.
