Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a resistance-type element which senses the oxygen partial pressure in an atmosphere by employing a cerium oxide as a sensing substance.
CONSTITUTION: A slurry, which is obtained by adding and mixing a mixture of glycerol and water to cerium oxide powder (special grade reagent), is placed on the ends of two parallel platinum wires so as to cover them, and the platinum wires are laterally rotated to dry the slurry into a globular shape, which is then burned in the air to form an oxygen partial pressure sensing element of cerium oxide in which two platinum wires have been buried.
