Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a low-cost and rapid recovery of ink by a method wherein the ink recovered by a gutter is sucked into an ink reservoir by use of the suction force of a fan connected directly to a rotary drum shaft. CONSTITUTION:A rotary shaft 20 fitted with vanes 19 of a fan 17 is connected directly to a rotary shaft 21 of a drum 9 on which the recording paper 8 is fitted. A connection port 24 of an ink reservoir 22 containing an ink 28 and fitted with a partition net 29 is connected with a gutter 13 by a pipe 25, while a connection port 23 is connectd with a fan 17 by a pipe 18. With the drum 9 rotated (at a revolving speed of about 1,000-1,500rpm) and with printing started, the uncharged ink droplets are trapped by the gutter 13, and a negative pressure is created in the ink reservoir 22 by the fan 17 rotating together with the rotary drum shaft 21. Accordingly, the ink trapped by the gutter 13 is rapidly sucked into and recovered at the reservoir 22 through the pipe 25.
