Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce errors in measurement and make the operation safe by performing detection of the equilibrium point of a Schering bridge circuit having an infralow-frequency power source as a power source through the intermediary of a photocoupling element.
CONSTITUTION: The electrostatic capacitance of a test specimen such as a power cable is determined as Cx and this forms the Schering bridge circuit together with a standard capacitor Cs, a variable resistance R3 and a variable capacitance C4, whereby the electrostatic tangential measurement is performed. On this occasion, the infralow-frequency power source of about 0.1Hz is used as the power source 3, while the photocoupling element 2 such as a photocoupler is connected to the 1st step of a equilibrium point detecting part 1 and the output thereof is supplied to a recorder 5 through the intermediary of a detector 4. Accordingly, the floating capacitance between the detecting part of the infralow-frequency bridge and the earth is reduced and thereby the errors in measurement can be diminished, while the fluctuation in measurement is eliminated and thus the measurement can be conducted safely since the detecting part is employed with grounding.
