Abstract

PURPOSE: To diagnose the degree of fitness of the inspected hair for perming through measurement of the strength and elongation thereof by a method wherein the inspected hair is inserted into a capillary tube with a piercing hole and the prescribed tension is given to the inspected hair by using the capillary tube as a weight.
CONSTITUTION: The inspected hair 3 is inserted into the central hole of the capillary tube 1 having fixed weight and is fixed to the tube 1 with the lower part thereof, while the upper part thereof is supported by and fixed to a stand 16 fitted with a time-measuring device 18 and a reagent-dripping device 19. The reagent is made possible to drip on the hair 3 through a pipe 20. On the other hand, a sensing box 7 which has an aperture 8 allowing the insertion of the capillary tube 1 and in which two sets of light-emitting and light-receiving elements 10, 10' and 11, 11' are arranged at an interval X is provided. The tensile force is given to the inspected hair 3 permeated with the reagent by using the capillary tube 1 as a weight and the elongation thereof is detected electrically. Thus, the fitness of the hair for perming and the propriety of the reagent can be dianosed surely with a simple constitution.
