Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the precision of inspection by a method wherein each piece number is counted corresponding to the size of a foreign substance and is compared with a determined value respectively when the foreign substance and the like is picked up by a TV camera and the quality of the inspected substance is determined through dissolution of picture signals given by the camera. CONSTITUTION:The inspected substance 1 being rotated, the foreign substance therein alone is picked up by the TV camera 3 operated by a synchronizing-signal generating circuit 4 and the picture signal thereby obtained is shaped in a video signal shaping circuit 5 which is given a signal from a horizontal scanning-line dividing signal ciruit 9. Then, the picture signal is inputted in an inspected substance discriminating circuit 10 and controlled by a stationary signal 11 which comes at every replacement of the inspected substance 1, and further it is divided for each inspected substance and for part and plural number by counting and thus the area of the alien substance is obtained by an x-y standard unit operation circuit 12. Accordingly, a determination signal 16 is outputted through comparsion of the value thus obtained with the determined value set beforehand in a comparison circuit 14, whereby the large increase in precision and high-speed inspection can be attained.
