Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the fabrication and machining of the electrode by a method wherein the deflecting electrode is composed of a plurality of deflecting electrode plates, each of which is made of insulating material provided with conductive film patterns for the deflecting electrode on its surfaces, and a deflecting-electrode holding plate which has grooves for fixing the deflecting electrode plate. CONSTITUTION:The deflecting electrode holding plate 17 is composed of photosensitive glass suitable for chemical etching, and grooves 17c as well as conductive film patterns 17a and 17b are formed by photo-fabrication, whereby the precision of the pitch of the grooves 17c is enhanced and the machining is facilitated. The deflecting electrode plate 18 is composed of insulating material such as glass and ceramic which is provided on its both sides with the conductive film patterns 18a, 18b. Accordingly, when the deflecting electrode plates 18a and 18b are inserted into the grooves 7c of the deflecting electrode holding plate 17, for example the conductive film patterns 17a and 18a are interconnected and the conductive film patterns 17b and 18b are interconnected, to obtain the multiple deflecting electrode structure with a high electrode pitch precision.
