Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the force in resin from acting unevenly upon the optical fiber strand part owing to molding of the optical fiber support by beforehand forming the coating layer of cold-setting type resin or the like to the optical fiber strand part to be resin-molded. CONSTITUTION:Optical fiber strand parts 61, 62 are formed to the specified length to the end part of an optical fiber cord 6 or the like and a tubular optical fiber support member 7 is put and bonded on the outside of the optical fiber cord 6. A coating layer 8 of cold-setting type resin or the like is formed as shown in the figure on the outside circumference of the strand part 62 and is formed until it goes to near the end 91 of the molding die 9. An optical fiber support member end 72 is placed on an optical fiber support member receiving part 92 and these are sandwiched by a pair of dies 9 and 9'. Thermoplastic or thermosetting resin is packed in cylindrical spacing parts 93, 94 to mold an optical fiber support 30. The optical fiber strand part 61 of the optical fiber support 30 thus molded is removed and the end part is polished up to the face 34.
