Abstract
PURPOSE: To stabilize the titled aqueous solution useful as a flotation reagent, a rust preventive agent, a germicide, an antifungal agent, a water treatment, a latex vulcanization accelerator, etc., by mixing the titled solution with a solvent, an amine, a surfactant, etc.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution of an alkali (earth) metal, ammonium, or amine salt of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT) is mixed with a solvent, an amine, a surfactant, etc. to lower the pH of the solution at which MBT separates from the aqueous solution of MBT, and to stabilize the solution. An alcohol, ether, ketone, DMF, etc. may be cited as the solvent; an alkanolamine, alkoxyalkylamine, polyamine, etc., as the amine. Any cationic, anionic, ampholytic or nonionic surfactant may be used. The amount of the stabilizer is preferably 1W2,000pts.wt./100pts.wt. of MBT.
