Abstract

PURPOSE: To measure the upper/lower surface-directional pressure of the piston ring groove of a combined oil ring with a simple instrument, by using a cylinder, push- in rod, load converter, etc.
CONSTITUTION: After upper and lower pistons 1 and 2 having combined oil ring 5 equipped in piston ring groove 4 are set around the internal circumference of cylinder 3, adjusting screw 6 for the width in the piston ring-groove-axial direction coupled with upper piston 2 is loosened to make an adjustment of the piston ring- axial direction width so that upper side rail 52 and lower side rail 51 of combined oil ring 5 will not come off projection part 531 of expander 53. Next, upper piston 2 is pushed downward with push-in rod 7 and while the point where displacement becomes zero is read out through the displacement gauge, push-in rod 7 is loosened until prescribed piston ring-groove-axial direction width is obtained.
