Abstract

PURPOSE:To cancel the nonlinearity of signal conversion characteristics in an electro-optical conversion element, by uing the conversion element having the same characteritics in opposite polarity. CONSTITUTION:Optical signal is obtained in a transmitter 1 by driving a light emitting diode 2 and this optical signal is transmitted to an optical fiber 4. In a relay amplifier 5, electro-optical conversion is made via an amplifier 9 and a light emitting diode 10. In this case, the same charactristics are used for the light emitting diodes 2, 10 and the driving signal is made to the same level but in opposite polarity. Further, by inverting the signal fed to the light emitting diodes, the conversion distortion caused on one can be canceled on another.
