Abstract

PURPOSE: Platelet mica together with a titanium or silane coupling agent is treated with a shear force to improve the compatibility with the resin, when it is mixed, thus giving resin formed products with increased heat resistance and tenacity.
CONSTITUTION: Platelet mica is mixed with 0.5W2wt% of a titanium and/or silane coupling agent, preferably silane agent. The mixture is treated with a shear force by, e.g., passing through a pair of press rollers. The treated mica is used as a filler and mixed with a thermoplastic or thermosetting resin for producing formed products. When the mica is mixed with a resin, the drying treatment at 40W150°C for 1W50hr is preferred.
EFFECT: The interlayer peeling in mica and surface treatment with the coupling agent are sufficiently effected to prevent additional peeling and blister caused by air layers.
