Abstract
PURPOSE: To supply oxygen sufficiently as well as to prevent a biological membrane from being peeled by providing a movable patition wall in a fluidized bed to form an air lift portion between this partition wall and a wall surface of the fluidized bed and increasing or decreasing a cross area of the air lift portion.
CONSTITUTION: When operation of an apparatus is initiated, because a biological membrane is not formed on a support 9 and the density of said support 9 is relatively high, a space of a partition wall 10 and a side wall 12 is narrowed by rotating a screw shaft 15 through a handle 16 to move the partition wall 10. Therefore, the air flow speed of an air lift portion is increased without increasing an air passing amount and a recirculation stream is formed. After the recirculation stream is formed, if the space between the partition wall 10 and the side wall 12 is widen, a biological membrane is attached corresponding to the air flow speed capable of maintaining the recirculation stream. Subsequently, the space between the partition wall and the side wall 12 is further widen and an organic substance in a sewage is removed in a short time, but, because an air flow speed is low, the peeling of a biological membrane is not generated.
