Abstract
PURPOSE: To set an optimum cutting condition of ice for a change of the ice-breaking condition, by selecting the cutting speed with an injection nozzle slower than the moving speed of an icebreaker further to a variable state.
CONSTITUTION: At an end of an arm 3 a circulatable mounting body 4a is provided in which a plurality of injection nozzles 5 and a supply device 6 for supplying high pressure fluid to each injection nozzle 5 are provided. At ice-breaking work, the mounting body 4a is circulated, and the circulating operation is allowed to make an interlocking motion automatically to the speed of a ship to inject high pressure water from the injection nozzle while performing the circulating operation. That is, the cutting speed Vc is obtained by utilizing circulating speed (v) of the mounting body 4a and ship speed V so as to be in the relation V-v, and the relative speed of the injection nozzle 5 to the level of ice is appropriately selected to obtain an optimum cutting condition.
