Abstract

PURPOSE: To sense the relative position of a superconductive magnet and a coil at the time of power failure during the car is stopped, by obtaining the amount of displacement of a position sensor on the car from a reference point to the point opposing the sensor on the ground or obtaining a rotating angle whose center is the midpoint of an axial line.
CONSTITUTION: When the power supply for the position sensor or a control device becomes off during the car is stopped, an optical position sensor DC on said car is moved from a reference point in the direction of (a) or (b) by the other power supply. When the sensor DC reaches the point opposing a sensing plate Dg1", the light from the DC is reflected by the Dg1". When said light is received by the DC, the driving of the displacing mechanism is stopped, and the displacement amount ΔX is obtained by a known measuring device. The period lT between the sensing plates Dg1' and Dg1" corresponds to the electric angle of 360°. Therefore, the relative position of the DC and the position Dg1'WDg1" is calculated in a known operating device by using the equation (ΔX/lT)×360°. In this method, the relative position between the superconductive magnet on the car and the coil on the ground at the time of power failure during the car is stopped can be accurately obtained.
