Abstract

PURPOSE: A viscose dope of low sulfur oxide content is coagulated and regenerated, then stood for a certain period of time, washed with water and dried, thus producing rayon filaments with high uniformity and less change with time.
CONSTITUTION: A viscose of less than 0.55wt% sulfur oxide content (based on the cellulose weight) is coagulated and regenerated to produce filaments. After the regeneration, the filaments are stood for a time Ts in second, which satisfies the equation (DM is denier of monofilaments consisting of the filament yarn), washed with water and dried. The time for washing is preferably longer than 0.5Ts. The reduction of sulfur oxide content in the viscose is attained by excluding the excess of carbon disulfide and the introduction of oxygen into the system.
