Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform high-speed electrostatic dot printing with simple constitution by allowing part of the electric discharge generated between wirelike electrodes and a thin film layer to arrive at a recording medium by way of electric power wires.
CONSTITUTION: A rotating cylindrical drum 8 is wound spirally with wire electrodes 9... of 4 pieces etc., and since the gap near the end face 10 of a proximate conductive thin film layer 11 is minute, the electric discharge is generated by the pulse voltages corresponding to the recording between the back electrode 12 and the electrodes 9 and is absorbed in the layer 11. At this time, the discharge is not wholly absorbed at the end face 10 and part thereof gathers at the electric power wires, through which it arrives at an electrostatic recording body 2, whereby dot electrostatic latent images are formed. These electrodes 9... are driven without providing any shift register block because the corresponding drivers 22 are controlled by way of shift registers 60... of series inputs and parallel outputs dividing a line buffer 51 and a controller 56. Hence, high-speed electrostatic dot printing may be performed with the simple consitution of not requiring any precise stylus etc.
