Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the error caused by the shift of attachment for the slip mark of the wheel or the like, by reading the main point of the mark through the zero- cross system using the differential output between the two photoelectric transducers.
CONSTITUTION: A marking of a sharp form is given to the travelling long-sized material 1 with every distance nearly equal to the reference distance L by the marking device 2. The marks put continuously on the surface of the material 1 are detected by the mark detector 3, and the one-preceding mark position is detected by the image pickup device 4 and in synchronization with the detection of the mark. The fixed point of the mark formed through the lens system 6 is read out in the detector 3 by two photocells S1 and S2 and through the zero-cross system. In this connection, the central position can be detected in a high accuracy by reducing extremely the gap between the S1 and S2.
