Abstract
PURPOSE: To easily obtain a screw conveyor having various leads by fixing the end of a strip material to a fitting which rotates by engaging with a mandrel, admitting the strip material with a floating body to form continuous spirals and inserting these to a shaft.
CONSTITUTION: The end of a strip material 7 is bent and is inserted and fixed in the groove 9a of a strip-material mounting fitting 9 in such a manner that the side faces of the strip material 7 intersect with the axial center of a mandrel 5. When this mandrel 5 is driven by way of a mandrel mounting fitting 11, the strip material 7 is guided by a bearing roller 15 and while it is wound arounds the mandrel 5, a floating body 13 retreats by the thickness of the strip material 7 at every one revolution, whereby stuck spirals 23 are formed. These spirals 23 are inserted onto a central shaft 25 and the spirals are elongated and fixed by welding. According to this method, the screw conveyor having various leads may be obtained in a short time without producing any loss in the blank material.
