Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide titled compsn. which is colored, discolored or decolored by the irradiation of visible light or near-ultraviolet light, by a method wherein a specified ruthenium salt and a pH indicator are dissolved in water or an alcohol.
CONSTITUTION: A ruthenium comples salt [e.g. bis (2,2'-bipyridine) ruthenium (II) dithizonate chloride dihydrate] consisting of a cation of the formula (wherein L is 2,2'-bipyridine, 1,10-phenanthroline or a homologue thereof; HD2 is dithizone; when HD2 is represented by H2H2, H2D2 means dithizone group.) and a halogen anion (e.g. Cl-, Br-, I-) or a pseudo-halogen anion (e.g. NO3 -, BF4 -), is dissolved in water and/or an alcohol in such a proportion as to give a concentration of 10-7W 10-3mol/l. Then 0.01W1wt% of a pH indicator such as 0-naphtholphthalein, m-cresolphthalein is dissolved in the solution. The pH of the soln. is adjusted to 6.5W10, pref. 7.0W8.5.
