Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a polymer particle from static adhesion to a polymerizer wall, etc., by polymerizing an olefin in the presence of a specified amount of a 3C or higher inert hydrocarbon compound in liquid, in the vapor-phase polymerization of the olefin in the presence of a coordination catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: In the vapor-phase polymerization of an olefin such as ethylene or propylene, in the presence of a coordination catalyst such as titanium compound, by use of a polymerizer, the polymerization is carried out in the presence of 1W20wt%, based on the polymer particle in the polymerizer, of a 3C or higher inert hydrocarbon compound, such as propane, butane, pentane, hexane, heptane, octane, decane, cyclopentane, cyclohexane, benzene or toluene, in a liquid state. Thus the polymer particle is prevented from static adhesion to the agitating blade, wall surface, etc., and from agglomeration and lump formation.
