Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the machining precision by a method wherein the increase in the amplitude of cutting vibrations due to sharp changes of the cross-sectional area of a workpiece cut by a tool is detected from a detection signal of a tracer head, the feeding speed for the tool is automatically reduced and thereby a certain cutting load is constantly given thereto.
CONSTITUTION: In cutting, a tool 17 is vibrated by the cutting load. The frequencies of these forced vibrations from outside are contained in a detection signal from a tracer head 20. The detection signal is transmitted to voltage-tuned filters 27W29 through branch channels 24'W26' and in these filters the constituent of the frequencies of forced vibrations is extracted. When the extraction signal, which is transmitted to an operator 30 and operated, shows a value larger than a prescribed reference value, a signal for controlling the profiling speed is transmitted to a control device 22, whereby the feeding speed for the main-shaft head 15 and a table 1 is made to slow down and thereby the cutting load on the tool 17 is equalized.
