Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the rigidity of a welded structure by forming the same into a closed structure not provided with any opening part, which is used for the bed of a machine tool and the like. CONSTITUTION:Sliding surfaces 1a and 1b are welded to an upper plate 2 and side plates 3a and 3b, to which a lower plate 4 is also welded. Moreover, ribs 5 for reinforcement are arranged at intervals in the longitudinal direction of a bed and are welded to the sliding surfaces 1a and 1b, the upper plate 2 and the side plates 3a and 3b, but they are not joined to the lower plate 4. Accordingly, the provision of an opening part in the lower plate 4 is unnecessary and thus the welded bed can be formed into the welded structure.
