Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the cracking and damage of a rice grain due to quick cooling, by connecting an air supply chamber of plural connected grain tanks containing a cooling chamber to a cold and humid air generating apparatus, and supplying a low-temperature cold and humid air to the tanks with the flow process of grain in the respective grain tanks.
CONSTITUTION: A heated grain is lifted by a grain elevator 18 and filled into grain tanks 10W12 by a grain scatterer 19. Low-temperature cold and humid air is supplied from the top air supply chamber 9a to the bottom air supply chamber 9c in order. The air supply chambers 9aW9c are formed by connecting veinlike hoods 3 of inverted V cross section to air supply inlets, and the similar veinlike hoods 4 are connected to expelled air holes to form an air expelling chamber. The grains are cooled in order and discharged downward by the rotation of discharge valves 16 and returned to the top of the grain tank 10 by a screw conveyor 17 and the grain elevator 18. Thus, the total amount of the grain is cooled to a given low-temperature by recycling the grain through the grain flow path B several times and conditioned to give a low-temperature grain of good quality, which is then sent to the next stage.
