Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent out-of-furnace leakage of in-furnace atmosphere gas by inserting inner cylinders from both ends to an outer cylinder which is freely rotatable to the front and rear ends of a heating furnace for steel materials etc. and is provided with the slits permitting the passage of the steel materials to be heated and making the same freely slidable in the axial direction of the outer cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of heating the steel material 1 to be heated in a heating furnace 3, the steel material 1 is fed into the furnace with hearth rolls 2. Projections 10 are protrusively provided from the hearth and top at the front end of the heating furnace 3 (the same holds true of the rear end) and an outside cylinder 11 is supported freely rotatably by these. Slits 12 corresponding to the passage way of the steel material 1 are formed to the outer cylinder 11. Inner cylinders 13a, 13b are inserted to the outer cylinder respectively from both ends and are made mutually approachable and detachable in the axial direction within the outer cylinder 11. The steel material 1 enters the inside of the heating furnace by passing the slits 12 of the outer cylinder 11. Since the inner cylinders 13a, 13b are held inserted to the outer cylinder from both ends, the width W of the slits 12 may be set to match the width of the steel material 1; therefore, the amount of the leakage of atmosphere gas such as N2 in the heating furnace to outside the furnace is extremely small and there are less losses of the atmosphere gas and heat.
