Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease the in-furnace raw materials in the upper part of a lance and decrease the load acting upon the lance by giving forward and backward motion to the lance at the time of inserting the gas sampling lance into the blast furnace.
CONSTITUTION: The gas sampling and temperature measuring lance 4 in a blast furnace 2 is inserted into the blast furnace 1 by a lance moving differential type reciprocating cylinder 6 operated hydraulically. The lance 4 repeats forward and backward movements at fixed time intervals on account of the action of an electromagnetic change-over valve 8 and a timer 10. These movements of the lance cause the raw materials 15 of the parts in contact with the upper part of the lance 4 to be collapsed, then part thereof slip into the voids 16 made on the lower side of the lance 4 and the load transmission from the upper part of the lance 4 becomes imperfect, thereby decreasing the load of the lance 4. Hence, even if the lance 4 itself is made small, it does not break and the entire part of the device such as lance moving cylinder can be miniaturized.
