Abstract

PURPOSE:To reproduce a picture signal stably at a rate differing from a recording rate by providing a signal converting method that reproduces a signal from a signal track recorded on a recording carrier and a scan moving method that shifts its signal reproduction scanning position nearly at right angles to the tracks. CONSTITUTION:Light beam 2 from light source 1 changes in direction at total reflecting mirror 5 after passing through intermediate lens 3 and semitransparent mirror 4 and is focused on recording carrier 7 via condenser lens 6. Reflected light 8, after passing through condenser lens 6 again, changes in direction at total reflecting mirror 5 and semitransparent mirror 4 and is photodetected by two-split photodetector 9. The output of photodetector 9 is amplified by amplifiers 10a and 10b and detected by envelope detecting circuits 11a and 11b, whose outputs are supplied to differential amplifier 12 to obtain their difference signal. As for the relation between tracking element 15 and conveyance motor 17, and track on recording carrier 7 driven by motor 16 is scanned by light beam 2 through tracking element 15 for sudden displacement on the recording carrier and conveyance motor 17 is so driven that the driving voltage of tracking element 15 will be zero on an average. Signals are recorded on recording carrier 7 spirally or concentrically.
