CONSTITUTION:Horizontal blanking signal BC is inputted to FF64 to obtain signal SF inverted at intervals of one horizontal period. Signal SF changes over switch 63, and consequently black-level correcting circuit 50 flows a slight beam current to a picture tube only at the black level in every other horizontal period. Therefore, index signal SIO can be obtained even at the black level in every other horizontal period. This signal SIO is supplied to PLL circuit 30 via switch 65. In the remaining periods, on the other hand, index signal SID preceding by one horizontal period is supplied to circuit 30 via delay circuit 66. Then, the current to the picture tube is cut off in every other horizontal period, so that a decrease in contrast can be prevented.
