Abstract

PURPOSE: To protect the heat acting portion of a recording head against damage and elongate the use life thereof by a method when in a substance capable of forming a film coat on the surface of the wall of a liquid passage is added to the liquid used in the liquid injection recording method.
CONSTITUTION: To the recording liquid consisting of a water-soluble dye such as a direct dye, an acid dye, a basic dye and a reactive dye and various kinds of additives such as a pH-adjusting agent and an antidrying agent, the film-forming substance such as an organometallic chilated compound, a metallic salt of an organic acid, carbon-functional silane and an gold-bearing dye is added in the form of being dissolved or dispersed in water or an organic solvent or a mixture thereof. The recording liquid consisting of such a liquid composition receives thermal energy from an electrothermal converter 102 through the heat acting surface 109 at a liquid acting portion 107, and is thus heated to evolve bubbles. Simultaneously, the recording liquid undergoes a film-forming reaction to form a film coat on the heat acting surface 109, and the film coat absorbs the shock waves arising from the evolution and dissipation of the bubbles.
