Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the device fitted especially for an ultrasonic diagnosis by the use of a water immersion method by a method wherein a variable gain amplifier and a gain controlling circuit are provided to ensure the application of an STC method and thereby a tomogram of uniform density and good quality is obtained from the surface part of a subject. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic wave receiving signal VS is supplied to the gain controlling circuit 10 as well as the variable gain amplifier 9. The variable gain amplifier 9 controls the above signal VS for its gain based on the output of the gain controlling circuit 10. The circuit 10 is constituted as shown in the figure. By applying the comparative extraction and the integrating treatment to the signal VS by a comparator 22 and an integrating circuit 23, noise signal components from the dust, air bubbles and the like in a ultrasonic wave propagating medium 2, as well as single pulses from a vinyl film 4 and the like, are removed respectively and thus reflected signals from the surface part of a breast 3 can be detected. As a result, by generating a gain controlling a signal STC in synchronization with the above detection timing, the STC can be operated surely from the surface part of the breast 3 and thus the same texture of the breast 3 can be indicated by an image of uniform density, in depth and with high resolution.
