Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture TiO2 aggregated granules composed of needlelike particles arranged in a certain plane or a certain direction by molding a kneaded material of needlelike TiO2 particles, an org. binder, a plasticizer and a solvent into a sheet or a thin wire while uniaxially applying a pressure followed by cutting.
CONSTITUTION: Needlelike TiO2 particles having 0.3W2.0μm length, about 0.1μm width and rutile type crystal structure are well kneaded with a org. binder, a plasticizer and a solvnet, and the kneaded material is molded into a sheet or a thin wire by a doctor blade method, extrusion molding or other method while uniaxially applying a pressure so that part or almost all of the needlelike particles are arranged in a certain plane or a certain direction. This sheet or wire is then cut into needlelike or platelike granules easy to orient, and the granules are calcined. Thus, oriented TiO2-base sintered porcelain of desired form can be manufactured easily.
