Abstract

PURPOSE:To stably control the tracking in the whole recording area, by changing the control gain of the scanning and moving means according to a signal of the scanning position detecting means by which the position in the radial direction of the recording disk is detected. CONSTITUTION:The outputs of the optical detectors 10', 10'' are provided to the gain control circuits 51, 51', respectively, and these outputs are provided to the envelope detection circuits 52, 52'. The difference of outputs of the circuits 52, 52' is obtained by the differential amplifier 11, and the tracking control is performed by driving all reflectors through the driving circuit 13. The circuits 51, 51' control the gain by the output of the position detector 14 so that the respective signal outputs of the optical detectors 10', 10'' can be always constant, regardless of the radial position of the recording disk. Accordingly, the inputs of the circuits 52, 52' become constant at all times, and even in case of detecting with a diode, the influence of characteristics of the diode is removed. Therefore, the tracking can be controlled stably in the whole recording area of the disk.
