Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain easily a pushing pressure to give a required head, by utilizing respective principles of an air-lift pump and a jet pump at the same time to nullify disadvantages when each of those pumps is used individually.
CONSTITUTION: The air is pushed into a tube from an air introduction opening 7 through a duct 5 by which to push the air in to become bubbles 16 and floats up in a suction pipe 1. At the upper section of the suction pile 1, the water pressurized by another pump is supplied into a conduit 10 from a jet nozzle in the jet direction into the tube to become an air flow 14. Existence of the bubbles 16 which reduces the mixed specific weight in the suction pipe 1 and negative pressure generation by the jet stream cooperate to reduce the pressure at the inlet 12 of the suction pipe 1 lower than the ambient pressure, and develop a pumped water flow 15. This water flow flows in parallel with the air flow 14, and the pressure in the tube rises at the mixing section 3. Because this reduces the volume of the air flow 14 to a smaller volume, making the larger the cross section through which the liquid flows, and improving pressure recovery efficiency, only adjusting the air volume pushed in gives the pressure to push up the water by a required head.
