Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce titled insulating material having excellent heat and sound insulating properties, by a method wherein a gas adsorbent is incorporated with an expandable stock solution, and a foam is produced and at the same time gas within cells is adsorbed by the adsorbent to reduce the pressure within the cells.
CONSTITUTION: 2W20wt% of a gas adsorbent such as zeolite, alumina or activated alumina is mixed with an expandable stock solution consisting of a polyoxypropylene glycol, tolylene diisocyanate, a foam stabilizer and a blowing agent. The mixt is molded into a plastic foam by a conventional method. At the same time, gas within cells is adsorbed by the gas adsorbent to reduce the pressure within the cells to 0.01W10 Torr.
