Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce quantizing noise, by reducing the number of convolutional integrations of the transversal filter in the unit where the output of the transversal filter is subtracted from the transmission-side signal to erase echo. CONSTITUTION:Receiving-side signal X' and transmission-side signal Y' are converted to signal X and signal Y through A/D converter 5. Signal X is supplied to transversal filter 100. Multiplying circuit 10 reads the tap coefficient from memory circuit 8 and the receiving signal from memory circuit 9 and obtains the product between them, and accumulator 11 obtains the sum of the output of circuit 10 in each tap. When the number of required taps is smaller than the number of taps of filter 100, switching circuit 12 is operated to set the output of circuit 10 to 0, and thus, the number of convolutional integrations is reduced, and the influence of quantizing noise can be reduced.
