Abstract

PURPOSE: To control wheel speed to maintain an instantaneous value of a coefficient of friction of road surface μ close to the maximum value by calculating the value by an equation of motion which is based on electric signals each of which corresponds to wheel speed acceleration and deceleration, a brake torque, and a wheel weighting.
CONSTITUTION: A signal to judge increase or decrease of an output signal of coefficient of friction of road surface μ by discriminating whether a differential value is positive or negative by differentiating μ of coefficient of friction of the road surface detecting device 5 at a coefficient of friction increase or decrease discriminating part 6. At an actuator control part, responding to a μ reduction discriminating signal, a reduction in brake hydraulic pressure is instructed when the brake hydraulic pressure has been increased, and an actuator control signal is generated to increase when the pressure has been reducing.
