Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable smooth operation of frictional engagement elements and the operation thereof with proper timing between them by providing wet-type frictional engagement elements energized by a hydraulic servo, and a planet gear mechanism of double pinion type.
CONSTITUTION: When two-wheel drive is shifted to four-wheel drive, a hydraulic servo 80 is made to operate by a hydraulic mechanism by means of a lever to engage a clutch 8. And, a ring gear 44 is coupled to a sleeve 9 and the driving force is transmitted also to front wheels through a link mechanism 12, an output axis 17 and a driving axis B. By this, the driving force is trnasmitted to an input axis and output axes 17 and 11 for driving rear wheels. Moreover, when the increase of torque is required, pressure is supplied to a hydraulic servo 50, the pressure in a hydraulic servo is discharged, a brake 5 is engaged, and a clutch 7 is released. In this way, a sun gear 43 and the ring gear 44 are released, the sun gear 43 is fixed and the driving force is transmitted to the output axes 11 and 17 through the gear mechanisms 41, 42 and 44.
