Abstract

PURPOSE: To properly control the air-fuel ratio over the operation ranges from low to high speeds of a fuel injection-type internal combustion engine by providing an air passage that bypasses the throttle valve having a control valve.
CONSTITUTION: The other end of a fuel passage 26 communicated with a fuel injection pump, not shown, is communicated with a main nozzle 44 and a slow nozzle 54. A main fuel passage 36 is provided with a fuel injector 22 driven by a control circuit 100 receiving detection signals from an air flow sensor 52 and an engine condition sensor 200. An air passage 16 is provided bypassing a throttle valve 14, and provided with an air solenoid 20 controlled by the circuit 100. In the low engine-speed ranges, the air-fuel ratio is controlled by only the injector 22 with the air solenoid 20 closed; in high engine-speed ranges, by the air solenoid 20 with the injector 22 open.
