Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the adhesiveness of a coating, by coating an aqueous solution containing a polymer of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid as the first component and a water-soluble monocarboxylic acid or an org. phosphoric acid compound as the second component on a surface of a steel plate having a hydrated Cr oxide substance on a Cr plated layer.
CONSTITUTION: A polymer of the first component has -COOH group on a side chain or is a polymer forming said group in an aqueous solution, such as a polymer of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid or a compolymer thereof. The second component is selected from one or more of monocarboxylic acids, org. phosphoric acid compounds or org. phosphorous acid compounds. A mixing wt. ratio of the first and the second component is adjusted to a range of 5:1W100:1. The concn. of a treating solution containing them is about 0.03W3g/l and this treating solution is sprayed on a surface of a tin-free steel and heated and dried.
