Abstract
PURPOSE: To decide play time rapidly at the start of operation by comparing the frequency of the signal of a pulse generator, fitted on a capstan shaft, to that of a reproduced control pulse.
CONSTITUTION: Reproduced control pulse (a) from control head 1 is passed through amplifier 2 to obtain control pulse signal (g). On the other hand, a signal integer-fold as much as the rotational frequency of capstan 17 is obtained by pulse generating method 18 fitted to capstan 17 and pulse detector 19 and then passed through amplifier 20 to obtain capstan signal (h). Those signals (g) and (h) are compared mutually in terms of frequency by the post-stage logic circuit and on the basis of the value of an obtained ratio, the tape speed in recording mode is decided. Here, although signal (g) is unchangeable during normal reproduction, signal (h) in LP mode is a half as much as in SP mode. Additionally, the frequency rate depends upon a recording state. Therefore, even in a transient state when the tape rises during reproduction, it is constant in SP and LP modes. Consequently, the tape speed can be set to a fixed speed by deciding the frequency ratio.
